- Forming in 2006, Richie and Michelle had decided to start a band based on their own musical interests rather than recreating another scene-pleasing act. Drawing on classic rock and modern indie pop, the two began writing songs based solely on keyboards and guitar. Though the elemental structure of the songs they wrote had immediate comparative qualities to bands such as Mates of State and 80s commercial pop, their live sound lacked the booming presence of a rounded-out rhythm section.
Upon this realization, Richie reconnected with drummer David with whom he had played with in local upstarts Get Well Soon a few years before, and this finalized the current lineup as a trio. The songwriting has since become more sophisticated, less frenzied, but still keeps its eclectic qualities without losing the band's penchant for melody and traditional pop hooks; they now carve their own place out in the baroque pop universe along the lines of Spoon or Koufax.
The trio's live shows have been energetic and started a buzz for the band's debut EP, which they are self-releasing in the first quarter of 2007. After recording with Orange County recording prodigy Eugene (Melee, The Sound of Animals Fighting, New Year's Day), the band has recorded five of their handful of original songs that aim to follow through on the buzz their live appearances initialized. While trying their best hand at songwriting and producing their first release, the band takes their show on the road as much as possible from there, having experience from their individual members that includes playing across the southwest, big and small clubs alike.
