- We are The Dirty Hearts and we're banging out an eclectic sound of rock-n-roll combining punk rock attitude with pop aesthetics. We got together a couple of years ago in Austin, TX and quickly started playing our asses off at every biker, gay, punk and cowboy hell hole in town. Of course we're all sibling couples like The White Stripes or maybe were a bunch of swingers like Fleetwood Mac or maybe a band of cool lesbians like the GO-GOs.
Anyway, this happy family consists of singer, guitar player Frankie Medina. Calida on keys and vocals.
In 2005 we made a demo EP that got past around a bit called "5 Canciones 5 Pesos". In November of 2006 we released our first full-length, featuring 13 tracks. We recorded and produced the effort independently.
So far this year our album (self-titled) has been picked as a favorite of 2006 by Austin Chronicle's, Christopher Grey. Our first single, "New One", has been a favorite on ATX radio, notably, Andy Langer's, Next Big Thing, KUT and KVRX among others. While on tour recently, we stopped in L.A. to shoot a video for "New One" which will also be featured on the "Ninja Cheerleaders" movie soundtrack in summer of 2007.
